Description

This was really just an excuse to play with Stonemason’s wonderful new Courtyard set, as well as the Bolina hair and the Notorious cloak. I don’t normally do night-scenes, but I enjoyed this; certainly the theme of my pics should give me the chance to do many more! I can’t remember how much I’ve said before, so forgive me if I repeat plot points from previous notes. Although happily married, in an age when political matches make that a rare thing, Claudia della Vedra has one great regret: her husband, Goffredo d’Avaresca, is unable to have children. After a barren first marriage and eight years of childlessness with his second wife, he is beginning to become a laughing stock at Court – particularly in the circle of Don Fernando, the Duke’s son, who hopes one day to offer Claudia consolation of his own. Unfortunately for him, Claudia is not about to cuckold her husband in full view of the Court. But she knows that something must be done. Her husband’s family name, and her own, are on the verge of dying out (she notes that Fabrizio isn’t exactly falling over himself to get married and produce an heir). She and Goffredo have been in agreement for some time that she should try to find a surrogate father, preferably someone with no connection to the Court, so that Goffredo’s dignity can be preserved, and they can pretend the child is his. It isn’t long before Claudia’s eye falls on Francesco. He fits the necessary criteria, and is already closely bound to the family through his friendship with her brother. She puts it to him as a commission. Sentiment is not to be involved. Believing that by doing so he is helping Fabrizio as well as Claudia and her husband, Francesco accepts – besides, it’s a darn sight more enjoyable than the commissions he normally gets. Knowing that Fabrizio is liable to make a fuss, Claudia decides not to tell him until it is done – but her plan for a calm explanation goes amiss when Fabrizio finds Francesco leaving her room early in the morning. Fabrizio’s fury is white-hot and inconsolable, for reasons that go much deeper than simple indignation that his friend has slept with his sister (an element of bitter jealousy is involved). Despite Francesco’s efforts to reason with him, he storms out into the streets, leaving Francesco with the task of trying to track him down, and leaving Claudia with the uneasy feeling that, for once, her control of the situation has gone badly awry.

Excellent work in DAZ. I like the touch of the rose fallen to the floor of the mezzanine by her. Nicely posed and rendered scene. Render ON!
