Description
This is the old woodshed at Patrizio and Milena's house in the countryside, just outside Padova. Patrizio is a former colleague of mine and a very generous friend. They decided to go away from Padova decades ago, and I like to visit them, but I could never leave my urbanite habits. Anyway, this is the woodshed they found, almost a rotten ruin, when they bought the house and some land from an old farmer. Just before they decided to pull the thing down, the local art historian told them this is a precious remnant of the early 20th century farmers' woodsheds. So they restored it, added some roses, and a statue in the local stone made by Patrizio, an amateur sculptor. In the background, you can see the vineyard attached to the house, which produces some indifferent white wine Patrizio sells to the local winery, after giving up to any effort to turn from a retired engineer into a real farmer (his wife is still working as a primary school teacher).
Thank you for your kind comments.

it is really hard to be away from your gallery for days/weeks, because few galleries show so many sides of humanity & our interactions with this planet as yours does. And your series are just a joy. How do I pick a few examples from your lustrous Autumn Symphony series? (And I want to comment on more of that Art series too...) Well I chose this at random, as all the ASymphony uploads are joys. But I think this hit a chord because I'd recently been looking at old run-down structures here in the US midwest, and i've always had a love for decayed structures & how articulate they are when restored. You've given, I think, a slight boost to the edges, which is very effective; whatever postwork you did made this feel like an old postcard---ie, nostalgic, sharp & yet gently faded; and the hues on the wood & shingles are a deep ochre-to-orange, the hues of autumnal nostalgia. It's just beautiful, Sandra. (Ochre's used for gowns in some buddhist orders, to indicate that the follower is in flame---both in spirit, but also that he/she is willing to set the world afire so as not to get too attached to 'things'...) Your composition with the tree on the left and the mountains in the background is just right...the shed grows out of it & points out of the frame too. Your story---ie, how they were going to tear down this little shed till an art historian told them its value---seems very autumn-like to me: I don't know why. I think because autumn has an element of restoration to it, or at least it points that way for winter. And in any case, it's about gathering-in what one has. So it's a perfect story to suit the image. Gentle beautiful upload.
