Description

I want to thank Stacey (IceShark39) for mentioning that Hearst called this 250,000 acre (1,012 km2) estate with fourteen miles of coastline, the Ranch. Hearst Castle was built on Rancho Piedra Blanca purchased by Hearst's father, in 1865. There are still wild Zebra roaming the estate that were released from Hearsts own private zoo. Another shot of the Neptune Pool with some of Charles Cassou's statuary. His statues are scattered all around the pool area. The stairs that you see are a duplicate of the stairs that I am standing on, to take this photo. Some info from Wikipedia and photo recently scanned. Zoom for better detal. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

I absolutely love this pool and these sculptures. For sure, Hearst didn't spare any expense on this estate. And you're most welcome for the info. Glad it was useful.

Stellar ambience, details and patterns in this capture, Dana. Again, what an ostentatious display of affluence.

Beautiful image of the Neptune pool. It's been ages since we visited Hearst Castle, but if I remember correctly, this pool is fed by a mountain stream, and it is very cold water. :-)
