Description

It’s not easy being invisible but if you try really hard you can do it. Once, hiking to the summit of the California San Gregornio Wilderness I stopped to rest and sat down on a rock outcrop in the middle of a clearing in the forest. Humans are a very fidgety bunch and we are always squirming around making noise. Animals in the forest are very much aware of this and they keep out of sight while you are there. I decided to keep absolutely still; to remain completely motionless, and utterly silent. In effect, I decided to become invisible in order to see if the wildlife would cease to be aware of my presence. I persisted in this endeavor for about half an hour. Suddenly, over to my left a tiny little brown fox appeared and walked across the clearing right in front of me, obviously oblivious to my presence. Do not move, I said to myself; don’t even breathe. A doe and her young ones appeared at the edge of the clearing and began to graze. A hawk flashed out of the sky and passed so near to me that I could hear the wind on its wings. The clearing, in my mind, began to assume an aura of enchantment. I truly felt like an invisible presence, as one by one various animals appeared and went about their business. Eventually, I had to continue on my way. At my very first move, the entire panoply vanished into the forest and the enchantment was broken. It’s not easy being invisible but if you try really hard you can do it; and there are times, I assure you, when it is well worth the effort. Created in Ultra Fractal.

Gorgeous image Stan. I especially love the red and gold figure in the foreground. Your story about remaining motionless in the forest is one i can associate with. I have spent a lot of time observing nature over the years. Only recently i got satelite TV. The only signal you get here without having satelite is CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) and it does not come in very good. Before TV i found my entertainment was often supplied by nature. Actually sitting on the back porch and watching a vixen teaching her pups how to hunt is much more interesting and entertaining than any of the sitcoms i can now see with the help of a satelite.
