Description
518 came around the corner and almost ran into Toxic. She stopped and looked at him. She took a deep breath and asked,"Ah...518, can I talk to you?"
He shrugged,"Dunno. Can you? We haven't talked since before Jin died. You've avoided me like I had the plague and YOU weren't the cure! What's on your mind?"
She took a breath and sighed,"I'm sorry. I'm stupid or something. I can live through explosive android butts that are radioactive. but NOT break-ups. I need some advice."
"You? Advice? I was afraid you knew everything!"
She made a face at him."I'll stick my tongue out at you! You better watch it!"
518 looked at her. "We used to talk all the time. Now we are like familiar strangers. So-- what can I do for you ,stranger?"
She screwed up her face and said,"I found someone. I shouldn't have. I did,though. I think I'm about to mess up the time-line. He's a KID right now! THAT isn't the worst thing. YES,give me that look-- I need to tell Jaeko. It'll break us up and not in the funny way! How... how do I tell Jaeko I'm breaking up with him?"
Jeako's voice came from behind her,"I think you just told him."
She turned slowly to face him with frozen features. She tried to smile and just had a weird look on her face. She whispered,"I tried SO HARD to love you. You are such a GREAT GUY! You deserve someone to love you as much as you love them. I'm... not that person."
Jako tried to lift his head, but he seemed crushed by the weight of her words,"I was afraid of that. Sometimes -- the other person can tell. I tried so hard to win you over. But I couldn't."
She hugged him and said,"NO ONE can make anyone love another person! I tried so hard to be in love with you... I could love you, but you needed more than I had to give you. I am sorry. There is someone out there that can love you more than me. That is who you deserve."
518 walked by them and patted Toxic on the back. "You didn't need my advice. Just follow your heart and you'll do fine, I think. Jin taught you well."
Toxic watched him go and regretted. She said quietly,"I'm sorry,Jaeko. As soon as I knew for a fact... I had to tell you. I could have gone on for a couple of weeks, but you didn't deserve that. No one did."
He took a deep shuddering breath. "I'm not gonna cry. I want to, but I thought this might happen. I mean a possible thing, it might happen."
She patted him. "It hurts. You'll get angry and maybe hate me later. I hope you don't hate me forever. You are a good person and I'd like you as a friend. I can understand if you don't."
She broke away from him and looked at him. She dashed away and ran up the stairs, out of sight of him. After a few minutes, when he was sure he was alone, he wept from the pain he feared would come.
By herself, the connection she valued severed, she wept as well.

Very sad scene. It is good that Jaeko subconsciously saw it coming. At least he had slightly prepared himself. This is an interesting episode touching on the losses that happen when relationships end. When romantic love isn't there anymore, a breakup brings loss on many other levels even for the person who is causing the breakup. Toxic and 518 no longer talked,(his attitude seemed a bit resentful at first, though less so when he left) and now Toxic has lost (at least for now) a cherished connection with Jaeko. I hope he heals and they can come back to a different but strong relationship. Very interesting stuff about the timeline. Now that Toxic is back to herself, does she recognise Keo from knowing him in the future? How is she planning to fix their age difference and with what consequences? Excellent image! Great reacting expression and pose on Toxic!

LOL! @ Toxics expression... Only her! How is she going to mess up the time-line? Suddenly i'm thinking that everything happening is as big a coincidence as it appears. We tend to forget about the macroscope working behind the scenes. All the pieces are being put in place it seems.

I've always hated breakups. But you did this one OK, Joel. Hmmm. As to how they can "fix" the ages, well, she's partly Druaga, so I don't think she'll age like a normal human so they'll look odd for a bit, then she'll just look like a brightly colored trophy-wife. :) Also, if she can change her shape, she could change herself into a smaller younger-looking version of herself (without actually becoming the younger version if she does it right). Though you probably have another idea in that twisty head of yours.
