Description

Thank for stopping by. All your views, comments and favs are greatly appreciated. Taken at one of the Underground Muni Stops here in San Francisco. Muni is an integral part of public transit in the City of San Francisco, operating 365 days a year and connecting with regional transportation services, such as Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), SamTrans, and AC Transit. Its network consists of 54 bus lines, 17 trolley bus lines, 7 light rail lines that operate above ground and in the City's lone subway tube (called Muni Metro), 3 cable car lines, and a heritage streetcar line known as the F Market & Wharves. Many weekday riders are commuters, as the daytime weekday population in San Francisco exceeds its normal residential population. Muni shares four metro stations with BART, which can lead to confusion amongst visitors.

My years in SF were 1972-1974. I can see I have a lot of catching up to do. Love the motion blur.

Looks like the Castro street station with one of those horrid 80 ton Breda articulated monstrosities creating a mini-quake as it lumbers by on the west bound track. I like the "see through" you've managed capturing in this photo - it gives a sense of speed although the car is either braking in or starting up. K, L or M line? Are any of the old Boeing Vertol cars running in the tunnel anymore? Or are they just "tourist" attractions running on the Market street F-line?

This looks so much cleaner than similar stations in Chicago, and so much more colorful. I've been spending a lot of time riding Chicago's "Blue Line" which is...well...let's just say that "grotty" is a bit too gentle a word for parts of it, so it's nice to see actual colors and form...and a real sense or architectural skill rather than bland simplicity. I love this capture and the speeding train, blurred, but still distinct. Marvelous work.
