Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Powerful! Sometimes it can be for the best, before it turns toxic.

This is always hard. My sympathies to you. Beautiful expression of a painful event.

For every one friend one loses in life there is always one waiting in line to pick up the pieces...so let me be one of the first to hand you one of those pieces...(smile) your friend (wink) -Will-

Poignant stuff, Marilyn. If only it hadn't ended this way.

I know how much it pains you to leave her behind. Andrea is right, even though that moment passed long ago. Thoughtfully, insightfully, gently written.

So sad Marilyn but sometimes for the best ...

Your insights are always so straightforward, even in terms of things that are painful and unpleasant, they lack the maudlin sentimentality that often turns such situations into festivals of complaint. I love the fact that you state truths (painful and pleasant ones) so honestly. That's a kind of purity that I admire. On top of that, you've written something universal. I'm in a situation in which I'm aware of toxic relationships I've had...toxic relationships that have gone on too long. I've finished off the last of them, and I gotta tell you, for as painful as it was, it's also such a relief. I agree with Tara, absolutely, this is quite insightful and wonderfully gentle. It's pure.

Inspirational words my friend. You love life and you have lived it your way. Painful – yes! Permanent – maybe! Life changing – most likely! Landing on your feet – yes! Support from your friends – definitely! Dana

Reflecting on your words...so much said, so few words needed to convey years and years of give and take. Emotions sensed, feelings felt.

Brilliant! Moving! Utterly perfect. Pulls you down to the sad resolute ending with a touching intensity. I like this a lot! Love it,actually. Was it Robert Frost who said: What ends with friends? I'm sorry to hear about the loss of the friendship. There's so much history and emotion with long term friends; they become like biological family. It's never easy to end with friends but people change, they outgrow each other and move on. Sometimes they simply piss you off one time too many. After the initial trauma, it's usually for the best. And then there's the joy and excitement of making new ones. Great poem!
