Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Yeah it is a decent wave. I reckon it's one of those waves that feels a hell of a lot heavier than it looks on the beach. I wonder if he managed to hit the lip! Sensational action shot.

That wave looks huge! Great timing on that one!

It doesn't look like that surfer caught the tube... more like he's about to meet the sand under that wave. :-) Great shot.

That's quite big...Lake Michigan doesn't quite manage this on a regular basis. Oh, it does...and Lake Shore Drive becomes a giant puddle with a traffic jam in it, but that's rare. And so having said that, I'll also say that I really like this shot a lot! It's got drama. It's got tension. It's a picture of water, and you've captured something distinct and dramatic. Ain't Nature grand!? I love the light quality in this too, and the whole "you are there" vibe this has. And speaking of that whole "you are there" thing, I'd love to see this in person! This shot rocks!

Fantastic capture and very low POV. Actually it looks like there is a surfer in there. WOW! Dana

Stellar POV employed and stellar contrasts, reflectivity and varieties of texture in this thundering action shot of the foamy and frothy surf, M! But Dolly lama?

I have no idea of the actual conditions at this beach but I remember swimming in waves like this in the Atlantic as a boy...no fear, just needed to hold my breath for a quick dive through. I could swim with confidence, knew little about undertow and somehow survived with never a mishap...but then I knew if needed to, I could float forever. Good memories stirred up here:) Now, years later...yup, that wave does look powerful and maybe even a bit threatening. I'll just sit, with camera in-hand and watch from the beach.
