Description

I had a great time on my last trip to see my mom. Not only did I eat chicken and sausage gumbo, and blackberry cobbler (always high on my list of good things to do) and had great a time with my mom, but I also had two fun days out with family and friends. My last image was taken during the first day out with Jock and David. This one is from the fun time I had with Cheryl(clbsmiley) at Texas City Dike. You can see more images of the dike at Cheryl's Gallery In all my fun, I let two birthdays slip by me. Since there are two beautiful birds here, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish a belated happy birthday to Flavia (flavia49) and Jane (JaneEden), two beautiful artists on renderosity! Happy Birthday Flavia and Jane!

Ooh, Blackberry cobbler...I've only ever had peach or pear, and a few humungous portions of apple...but never blackberry. This must be corrected! Immediately. And now that I've gone on a bit about food...hmmm...food...I love that stuff...anyway, since I've gone on and on about food, maybe I should say something about this picture. It's outstanding. I love Pelicans. There is something so dinosauroid about them...I think it's their faces and their head proportions, and the fact that when you look at their eyes, they seem to know something. What, I don't know, especially since pelicans don't speak English, and so, can't tell you...but still...I always get the impression that they know.

read the comments, like Harry's comparing the rocks to chocolate & ground peanuts, and a number of people commenting on the gumbo. Man, I wish I weren't vegetarian sometimes: That sounds like a great southern dish! Not to mention the cobbler (which chip gets poetic about). As for the shot, a wonderful stop action capture of birds taking off & in flight, very difficult to capture (unless you're one of those photographers who do this all the time, like danny o'brien, etc). Great that we see one starting, and one in flight. And someone commented on the deep blue water (helle, maybe?): I agree that it's a fine backdrop. And those rocks: They look like carved turtles! Great rocks! A lovely shot, and appetizing with all the food talk and imagery. And it's nice that you share these trips with us through images & words...

These a beautiful pelicans, caught in great action. I can watch them for hours and sometimes I do. We don't have white pelicans only brown so I love a chance to see these beauties. The colors of your picture are stunning the blue water and the white pelicans and the brown of the rocks makes a great scene. Very beautiful.
