Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

WOW! WOW! WOW! This is absolutely, jaw-dropping good! That isn't surprising since you do jaw dropping good on a regular basis...but still...WOW! This is an action shot and then some. I love the color, the spray, the slightly de-centered focus, the crisp clarity and the really dynamic sense of energy. This is definitely a ZOOM shot too...there's so much richness. This is frikkin' cool stuff!

You have the 'Midas' touch, beachzz! GRINS. The above makes me want to get out all my old Jan & Dean and Beach Boys Cds.

Oh my god, this is positively magical! I wish I could say more but words really are insufficient in this case, I find that the golden light and the action of the waves and the surfer render my vocabulary inadequate to the task. Brilliant work (if you'll pardon the pun)

"another sunrise shot"...lol! Every so often you do great understatement! If this is 'another sunrise shot', then the sun is 'another light'. A terrific shot marilyn, wanted to comment on this online for a while now: In a sea of gold lights and amber sweeps, there is a very defined wave, that beautiful angle on the right with the surfer straddling it and almost on-fire from the sun-drenched spray & waves behind him. The tilt of his posture against that slope of water is frozen beautifully by your capture, and the rest is just water-fire everywhere. I don't know when you shot this, but it has a late day or early morning feel to it, it has that transitory light that's so intense but so short lasting. (We were always taught that the most dramatic light in nature is the most fleeting, thus sunrise/sunset light lasts the shortest. A little art school lesson for people who wanted to paint sunsets...) But for transitory light, it blasts and dazzles...and the surfer has detail---we can see his face etc---but he's shadowed too, which is how he should look surrounded by all this spray. A capture of a true moment; your ocean work the last few months has been spectacular. In fact, Lake Michigan dropped me an email saying, "do you KNOW that woman? think she'd photograph ME???" Oh, and the uppermost waves on top (glad you didn't crop them out) are like clouds from Cecil B. DeMille's "Ten Commandments" lol. Like the clouds over Sinai about to open up & give Moses the Law. Wonderful shot, beautiful fiery light.
