Description

I work at a food bank & thrift store. I see people coming in asking for help with food, utilities, rent and other issues as well as buying clothing and housewares (the monies from these sales goes right back to buying some food items) I get to see the those who are homeless and close to homeless. This scene shows a young fae who has been forced out of her homelands due to human encroachment into her lands and is now living on the streets. If she is lucky, she'll find her way into Fae Valley where she will be welcomed with open arms and hearts. I just wish it was the same in the real world. A simple plea if you will: if you hear of a food drive in your area, if you can, please give non-perishable food items. You'd be surprised how far it can go. Thank you

I also run a weekly food closet. The economy is so bad we are having record numbers of people in line. The bad news: Many of the businesses who have donated in the past are either now gone or on the ropes. We purchase most of our food from a couple of local food banks - their prices have gone up 5x what they were two years ago. I don't know where this will all end...

excellent message mike, and i agree with shawn im pissed off as well at society, all the bullshitters and fraudulent people. the ones who play with other peoples money and dont give a shit are for me potential assassins, considering all the misery they produce, and the assholes who let fly in special?? water for 1000 or more dollars a bottle ,and stick whatever shit up their ass because they have nothing better to do,meanwhile the "plebs" are struggling througha more or less miserable life. i do must stop here because the adrenaline is already climbing up my spine.

I'll be out with my collecting tin while our band plays carols in the town centre this Christmas (first 3 Saturdays in December). People like to hear the Salvation Army band while they're shopping, and we collect quite a bit of money.

Excellent work Mike! A very timely message, the homeless people in my part of the world have even bigger problems than lack of food. Not to discount hunger as a serious problem, but even more urgent is the need for shelter, For instance this morning while i type this the outside temp is -28C or -18F for Americans. That is before the windchill. This is just normal temp for winter and will seldom raise above -20C before next March. So you can see that lack of shelter is a more immediate problem for the homeless here than lack of food. Your image today did a wonderful job of getting many people to at least consider the plight of the homeless that might not have thought of it.

Quite a deep thought with this image, so nicely presented and a great comparison of fantasy and real life. I agree with Dave, you have a caring heart and a helping hand to those in need.

Dressed like that I imagine she will get plenty of money. I see people on the on ramps a lot doing just that, with sign and all. I also read something about people who do that (stand on the road with a sign)and have their Mercedes parked around the corner and drive home to their expensive house. That is a shame that people do that and cause mistrust of those that do it that really need help. I had a friend who on his way to work passed by a fellow with a sign, he didn't have money so he gave him his sandwich which was his lunch for that day. He said the guy started eating it right away, so he must have been pretty hungry. And thanks for putting up this to remind people and maybe give that that push to help out. Wishing you a great week and Thanksgiving!

I have and always will support these places. Some folks don't seem to understand how hard it can be to find and keep a job, that's even assuming they are able to work at all. The majority of these folks want to stand on their own two feet, they don't want hand outs or charity, but they can't starve or let their family starve, so they do whatever they need to do. Thanks Mike for the wonderful image.

A BEAUTIFUL yet sad render Mike. Love the lighting in this. The company I work for (Wirebelt USA)is BIG on charity work and we do a LOT through out the year to help local charities. If you go to this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eclIBSDrWSI you will see a video of part of this years charity challenge which pitted the white collar workers against the blue collar workers in various contests. This video shows the belt weaving challenge. I am the official. The goofy looking guy carrying the clip board around, LOL.
