UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

I'm sure it all means something to you plane geeks, but to me it's just good photographs of some scary machines; I'd be going for the tiny closeups and unidentifiable angles!

Great shot of this mean machine! I'm sure this would bring a smile to Col. Yeager's face! That must be an incredible place! Way to go, Bill! Us plane geeks love it!

Can we sit in it? Can we, can we, can we? :D Excellent captures!

Cheers Bill, looks like I wasn't too far off...X-24 have to look that one up :-) Glad you mentioned the X-15, drop bye my Gallery tomorrow ;-) I see the vertical takeoff 'name escapes me' in the background (lower shot). Those who know me have probably spotted a train of thought going on here. Thanks for this and the Dedi.

Fine couple of fotos, considering the poor lighting conditions, of this barn burner, which looks in tip-top shape, Bill. Incidentally, this craft was attached underneath a mother ship, possibly a B-52 - I don't remember precisely - then released at the appropriate altitude to soar into the upper atmosphere at an amazing speed for that era. Ditto for the X-15.

Super shot Bill. I was just reading that these planes were meant to fly at speeds exceeding Mach 2, with maximum altitudes above 90,000 ft. WOW

I recall seeing this rocket flying after it was released from a B52? it was a miracle he was able to land it

The bullet shape that Bell used is very evident in these shots. Fine POVs.

Thanks for this post - brings back memories. A time when the US was absolute leader in science and technology before the dumbing down of our schools. Man, was I impressed reading and seeing some of the (fuzzy) photos of this plane. Now I get a closer look! :-)
