Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

I'm with you ... I love Thanksgiving! I get to hang out with my family and friends, have fabulous food, and there's no obligation to buy anything except a pie or salad or something. Aces! This is a wonderful addition to your Tangerine series. I love the wintery vibe. It's beautiful!

I got to hang with Tara and her family and friends one year, so I know how fun Thanksgiving is up there. My sister and I just finished baking 2 pumpkin pies, one apple pie, a white chocolate cheesecake and a raspberry white chocolate cheesecake. I think I have a sugar high from just being close to all that stuff!! Anyway, I digress (nothing new!!), this does have kind of an eerie look to it, for some reason it reminded of of a different movie, "The Nightmare Before Christmas".

I thought at first that was a car in the water, but on closer inspection it appears to be a car-shaped boat! A ver atmosheric pic, I like it.

I love shots like this, especially when they have the vaguely apocalyptic look that this one has. I know that bridge and that boat...well...a similar boat at least, since it never seems to move and it's been there for years. When I worked at For Eyes, two of the people I worked with lived not far from that spot. I saw that boat then, and that was back in 1997! I'm sure that boat hasn't been docked in exactly the same spot since then...but it's hilarious to see that it hasn't appeared to move. Really nice work here, exquisitely brooding and moody; it would be perfect with musical accompaniment by Wojciech Kilar (the guy who did the music to Bram Stoker's Dracula with Gary Oldman as Vlad Dracul.) This rocks. I like it. Just so you'll know, it kinda reminds me of THIS. Dontcha just love moody Polish music? I certainly do! This shot goes so well with it...which needles to say, makes me all warm and mushy inside.

I saw 'Carnival of Souls' a few years ago. Very strange yet remarkably well made film in spite of its budget and other limitations. This is a beautiful shot, the orange glow is particularly intriguing. A little unreal, like the boat(?) in the river that resembles a compact car. And the house with the glowing eyes. Lots of little odd things like that.

I LOVE this shot Corey! It does remind me of Carnival of Souls - so funny you thought so too. It looks appropriately creepy but actually reminds me of battle scenes from pre-civil war period. The way the sky and surrounding looks so red/orange with the glow of lights intermittent reminds of bonfires burning. Really nice!

Fantastic work, dear Corey !!!!

I agree, this has a wonderful feel, that reminds me of the classic holiday movies with actors like Gary Cooper or such in them. There's a great mixture of romance and eeriness that seemed to pervade the post-WWII era with it's strange mixture of post-war optimism and cold-war terror. Very nice color-scheme, too!

A very spooky capture.
