Description

Hermes (Mercury in the Roman pantheon) was in Greek mythology the son of Zeus and the messenger of the Gods to men. He is often depicted with winged sandals and a winged hat to symbolize the swiftness of messages he delivers...as if they fly. He also carries the caduceus, a rod with intertwined serpents and surmounted by wings. It is a sign that he is a herald of the gods. Son of Zeus, the chief of the Olympian deities, Hermes also had several famous sons, including Pan an Eros. In our scene Zeus, holding a golden lightening bolt as the symbol of his supreme power, sends forth Hermes from Olympus to carry his message to mortal men. Judging by Zeus' expression, it does not appear to be a pleasant message...but fulfilling his duty Hermes swiftly flies forth to deliver it. Please ZOOM for a sharper image! Oh, I wish I could fly like Hermes... :) Here we have the picture you've named! It's a fantastic scene, I love when so detailed mythology is included in an artist's imagery! Here's one funny detail: Yesterday I've saved a picture from internet, showing a male in a stylized robe and pose, holding a flash in his right hand posed upwards - I thought it could be a usable reference for a possible future render. Several minutes later you've named in your message that you were about to upload a new render. Now I see the render, and I can see almost the exact pose on Zeus as on the guy from the web. Isn't that weird? :D Vashek
