Description

Now it's the other guy's turn! Only our ancient guardian doesn't seem to want to run away... ----------- Back to explosions, what could be better? Ships modeled and rendered in Bryce, background, compositing and effects are all Photoshop. Thanks for taking a look, hope you've had a good weekend!

Yeah, the problem with ancient guardians is that they think like ancient guardians...they don't get with the program and "run away" when high energy beams are pointed at them...there's something both admirable and suicidal about that...kinda counterproductive, which probably explains why ancient guardians are ancient guardians and new guys are sleek and snazzy. Well...that's one take. Of course there's way more to this than meets the eye. But enough rambling. This is a fantastic image; you've really got the sense of action down perfectly, and you have created something that puts the audience right on the edge of their seats. This reminds me of a scene in Battlestar Galactica involving a pivotal battle that doesn't seem to be going well...until the Battlestar Pegasus shows up, commits suicide and takes out ALL of the bad guys in the process. No, this is nothing like that scene, it's not derivative at all, but it touches on that same sense of edge-of-your-frakkin'-seat action and suspense, and it pays off in showing/revealing something so completely IN THE PICTURE that all you can really do as an audience member is go, "woah...that rocks!" And that's exactly what I said and felt as I saw this image...woah dude, this frakkin' rocks!

When are they going to invent a force field that works (thinks the pilot in his final moments...) Superb modeling and effects + outstanding action = exceptional scifi artwork.

You are getting very proficient at these type of scenes. The explosions and laser streaks work very well and really give a sense of action to the image. Very well done and executed. All the best, David
