I have been into photography for over 40 years, and the pull doesnt lessen. As a family we have always been keen walkers, and that gets you to some interesting places.Ive recently been to Southern India as a member of an adult support team with our local community school to Chennai so the camera never cooled down i can tell you, (watch this space). I live in Chard South Somerset, and have fairly recently converted to digital, at first reluctantly, but now enthusiastically. Its great to hear others comments on your pictures and i am looking forward to loading up my space. Alan. Almost through my first week and inspiration levels have rocketed, thanks for all those comments they drive me on.

This is lovely Alan. It's probably totally different, but it immediately made me think of Shackleton's James Caird.

for a piece as vividly clear as this, it could still be a painting. Partly because of your composition: It's so articulate, it feels as one created this composition rather than 'found' it. (Wonderful seeing on your part.) It feels like a portrait even though it's of boats rather than people. And the line from the boat on the left through the bow going off to the right takes us from ground into the world beyond the frame, as does the tall mast. But the shot's as much about the sky as about the boats; the boats are part of it, and thats what makes this so classic. As do the simple elements on the shore. Simple but bold, and quite beautiful...
