Welcome back Mark. This photo shows us living proof that you've been to Florida:) Looks like a heron looking for his/her next meal. Lovely light turning the heron into a 2D silhouette complete with a crisp shadowy reflection. Wonderful composition!

Mark, it's so good to know your back and I can't imagine a more beautiful image to return on. Everything about this is wonderful from the delicate reflections down to the lighting. I'm sure your Dad felt blessed to have you with him over the holidays but you were missed here by so many.

Wow-wee, superb effects all the way around, what with the greenish mood, stark lighting contrasts, reflectivity and silhouetting, Mark! And I mustn't overlook the waterfowl standing amidst all this serenity. You're really good with water/ocean shots.

This is such a fine image! I just LOVE that blue-cyan-whatever color. It's gorgeous. The light on the water, the angle of the light, the heron, the ripples, the reflections ... everything combines to make an astonishingly beautiful photograph. (When you sent this over in a batch marked "snapshots" we both dropped our jaws. Wow!!) A gorgeous "return" shot. It's really nice to have you back, dear one.

I love this shot for many reasons. First of all, because it's so tropical and fitting for where you were. But mostly because that bird must be related to the one I keep seeing around here. Distant cousins, perhaps? Even the water has the same kind of ripples--are you sure you weren't right down the street from me? No matter--this is a gorgeous shot with that light and the water!!

WOOHOO! Welcome back, dear Mark. We missed you alot. :-) What a super shot to come back with. The fantastic colors, the reflections AND the lovely and elegant Heron. What more could one wish for? You really have an eye for the most lovely details.

Wonderful to have you back, Mark! This is such a clever composition, with that reflected post top right stopping the eye before it can leave on a longer journey. Brilliant!!

Beautiful image Mark - really love the way you captured the reflection in the water and the heron(?) standing by as if he is watching the whole thing himself - very nice- I'll send warm thoughts your way as I am headed down to FL in a couple of weeks to leave this Chicago cold behind too!

:))))Wonderful photo Mark! i cannot add almost nothing to all that is already said ... each photo of you show not only the wonders you see but you transmite so well the mood and all the beauty that exists outside the field of your machine vision, through the reflection in the water and the way you play with the light ...really, we can see the place! And the swan in the "counterlight" make the diference...the place turns more vivid, but also turns more quiet and beautiful. Good you are back!!!

A lovely and very serene photo, glowing with warmth. And now back to Chicago. Burrrrrrrrrr. It's freezing here in the Colorado mountains, too, but at least we have sunshine. CC

Absolutely gorgeous! I love how the light sparkles off the water giving this a magical quality. And the hues are wonderful. This is an unusual pov for a silhouette, but works fabulously.

Very interesting pov in this. so often dawn scenes are filled with sky and clouds. Here we see things from the perspective of a wading bird. This has a timeless feel to it. Very nice work,Mark.

The light in this wonderful capture is soooo... magical. I could stay and look at this image for a very long time. I love how the foreground is sparkling like jewels and how the bird is siluetted against the water. A splendid capture, and I do hope you are feeling well too.

Ooooh .. I think this has been created by magic .. it's so serene .. so peaceful, and so beautiful. Your morning captures are so amazing .. even more so because it's obvious you are an early riser .. I am more of a night owl, though the dogs don't believe in letting me sleep in much past 8 in the morning. Sigh. So I think that's why this and all your morning captures are so magical to me .. I rarely the world that early, except through your eyes.

I think you have a special arrangement with the sun and sky to position the light optimally for your every shot! And with your characters (herons, etc.) to stand in just the right position for your compositions. Are you sure you don't work in WorldVue??? Beautiful shot (snapshot??? Tara's comment made me laugh!)
