My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!
If I’m missing from Renderosity from time to time, I’m busy having fun elsewhere.
Thanks for your interest in my work, and for stopping by to learn more about me!

So you packed it in, went to bed and slept like a log!! Lovely shot and textures.

What a beautiful capture here Tara. It is so very beautiful. We never have any really driftwood on our beaches. I would have loved to have that. :)

Excellent Capture. Great eye for Natures Beauty, that can be anywhere, everywhere. Beautiful!

It is being cuddled and cared for by the grasses as they absorb it wisdom and tails of the sea. No tide like the present... Clive

If I start to TRY and think of anything clever my brain seizes up, so well done for a clever title. And i love the pic with all that interesting rot happening..I can almost smell it.

I think you picked a fine title for it.

high and dry might work too...;)

Great shot - love the irridescent (sp?) glow of the mold(?) on the log - not sure if it is mold but it looks cool whatever it is - love the reference to the Elton John song

I love all the pretty colors and textures in this.

Great tidal for this image. At least you weren't stumped too much and your mind branching out, leafing you like a budding artist. all fall down!

OMG, the puns are coming thick and fast! It's a lovely log, whatever you choose to call it. Great capture!

Well, I was going to try and come up with something really clever, but after fighting off the flu or whatever creeping crud I've had the last few days, my brain is pretty well pickled.... So I'll just say that this is a lovely, relaxing, and well composed bit of photography! I find the layering here to be most pleasing and interesting - at the top, a dark layer, then a light layer - the grass - then a mid-tone layer - the green grass. Then there's the diagonal lines of the logs, and finally that little splotch of reds at the bottom. Lots to enjoy here, Tara!

Love the audience participation you generate with a photo and title like this. Now, as to the photo itself, agree with Rod above...another beautifully postworked ancient mariner.

belle photo!

Very nice contrasting dark and light effects in this shot. The log is draped in the textures of a pinto pony. Kind of reminds me of Tonto's horse, Scout.

naturally I was looking for puns, but I'm right out...not even a peep...but 2 things: The shot itself has much beauty, the logs have great beauty in their discoloration and decayed textures, so do the grasses behind them. But your postwork is the pièce de résistance: You seem to have softened the logs, brought out certain of the mold-enhanced colors, almost faded some of the whites making them shine (as in a dream), and done beautifully on the grasses, making them shimmer like strand-like flames. And your topmost 'layer'---the dark forest or sky---is the perfect frame to the whole. Simple but beautiful, and more of your thoughtful penetration into the simplest forms in nature. And like a lot of your recent work, it has a soft subtle melody & poetry to it. Very enticing and poetic.

Ya know, I saw the title to this picture and immediately thought: "Hmm...how close to New Crobuzon" did she get in order to take this picture? Un-Tide? That sounds exactly like something they'd have in the world of Bas Lag...Un-Tide, where un-boats full of sailors stuck in a dead slack wait for moody vodyanoi to send some water there way so that they don't have to worry about the shifting un-tide in order to get wherever it is they're going...but of course, the vodyanoi are on strike and probably all reading the latest issue of Runagate Rampant and so there won't be any water-working anytime soon. Now that I look back at this comment, I wonder just how many China Mivielle references I can possibly squeeze into one paragraph! I haven't even gotten to the good bits of the photo yet, and so without further ado: I love this photo: the log looks so comfortable and, indeed, swaddled by the grasses around it and the lichens on it. I love the warm colors: those cat-belly tawny colors, the darker rotting wood, the dusty, ashy green of the lichens, shifting every so slightly to white, as if they're glowing with some strange inner light, probable seaweed left ashore during the retreat of un-tide? Whatever it is, it works perfectly. Oh, and in case you're interested...Mr. Mivielle has a new novel out. It's called Kraken and apparently it's another humdinger.

Everything has been said so I'll just point out that it is amazing how someone who knows her stuff can bring out the beauty in even what is normally a common place object. Oh, and silly can be quite fetching.

What a cool title for this lovely photo. I love the colouring.
