Description

MrsRatbag's alma mater. Captured 10/24/10, at the 9th Annual Wings Wheels Rotors & Expo, held at the beautiful Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) in beautiful Los Alamitos, California. Better viewed full size. I counted 2 flutes, 3 clarinets and 8 various sized saxophones in the front row. The back row consisted of flugelhorns, trombones, trumpets, tubas, and I don't know what else. Cheerybye, thankx for tuning in, and for any and all compimentary comments and favs.

And I believe those drums might be steel drums, but I'd know for sure if I could hear them. Excellent series of the band sans real uniforms! I could dig out my yearbook and scan in a shot of the way they used to look "back in the day"...

I think the school picked such a bright red so they could stand out at the parades and when they all go on school trips they are sure a colorful group, Nice photos.

a real mix: We see drums here, in fact a whole panel just for them! (Why is Yamaha on every thing in the musical world???) And some great captures of sax players bending back & forward in immersion in the music. (That's real music stuff.) And in panel 3, I swear someone's looking at you---about 2/3 of the way back. Maybe he found you and decided to give you a bit of a nod. And that bottom panel---with the brass---reminds me of my own days in bands (I did a little work with the flute), where the brass was right behind me: When they let go, you hit the clouds in under 2 seconds. You get used to it, mind you, but your first day, whoosh! The people in that front row have stomachs made of steel to hear that and still concentrate on their parts. (Those aren't cellos those kids are playing.) Finally, while I agree that a complete uniform would be nice, it's nice to see all the variations of jean-wrinkles throughout the formation: Real human stuff. A ton of fun, harry, and great that you caught some recording people too (or people amplifying the ensemble): Nice addition.
