Description

Back at the Mukilteo lighthouse. This is an upper story bedroom window in the keeper's house. The sign in front of the building reads as follows:
The Keeper's House (Later called Quarters A by the Coast Guard) The Keeper's house, designed by Carl W. Leick, was built in 1905-1906 along with the lighthouse and other light station buildings. Peter N. Christiansen, Mukilteo's first lighthouse keeper, lived here with his family until 1925. Christiansen had been given a certificate of merit for rescuing men from a barge and tug caught in a severe storm while he was assistant keeper at the Turn Point Lighthouse. It is thought that his appointment as Mukilteo keeper was "a reward for his faithful services." When Keeper Christiansen died on October 5, 1925, his wife took over his duties until E.A. Brooks was appointed as the second Mukilteo Lighthouse keeper.

This is one of those photographic marvels I love...parts of things...a mood embodied by an object: in this case, a really big object. I love the light and the sense of muted, but still vivid color. There's so much to see in this and it's so geometrically intriguing. This is a gorgeous shot.

A beautiful and lovely capture Tara! The delicate appeal of this crop is stunning, and just perfect! A most original and uique framing, and design for the window... don't see this anymore! Great subject and image!

The house looks in tip-top shape considering its age. Off-the-charts POV, clarity, contrast and geometrical type stuff in this one.

When carpenters were king. Love the angles, the light and all the postwork that is synergistic but so subtle one just has to know it is there to "see it".

Bill got it right. Built with pride and craftsmanship. I love the window frame and the color balanced by the 'L' shape in the lower right. Wonderful composition. Thanks for the history.
