Definitely some bizarre traditions (and vision) for the un-initiated of Buddhist religion - and I do respect other cultures point of view. 'live and let live' ... unusual but interesting presentation, Nikolay BB

a capture of the ethereal world of Eastern rite, awash in the view that life is illusion though it still feels very real to all of us. A photograph & a dream...The architectural elements in the left-background are real structures mixed with their shadows (the buddha would approve), and there appears to be a continuum of the back wall through the whole image---interrupted only by a pillar in front. A fine choice---the interruption is absolutely true to the view of the buddhists. The white wall has real & reflected objects against it which, too, is perfect for the buddhist view of life. And the white is topped off by delicate violet & blue hues (esp beautiful on the left side), and the glow of fire on the left... Awash in mystery---ie, we don't know where all this is taking place, or exactly "what" is taking place---the nature of buddhist experience is that that doesn't matter. In one ancient writing, buddha was purported to preach that the whole universe is in "flames" (the famous "Fire Sermon"), and that that flame is as important as the world itself. And an ancient Hindu writing---similar in nature---a sage picks up a rock and says, paraphrased: "In this rock I see the universe; and in that universe, another universe; and in that, another, and another, and another...all of which is in one lone rock of many rocks on this one side of one mountain among many..." You get the point...The whole universe as a burning dream inside a pebble...Yet each pebble is exquisite. So it's all beauty, pure & simple. A fitting capture of the eastern way, Nikolay. As one god says, after a human lifetime, "I've been waiting nearly half an hour..." (An epitaph for a buddhist's gravestone: "Just say 'I'm out': Be back in 5 billion years!") Always a pleasure to come back here Nikolay. You think & feel so intensely, and that's a genuine gift.
