Location: Potsdam Plaza; Berlin - Mitte Hi friends, the weekend past over nearly, hope you have had a good time! This pic here shows a part of the Potsdam Plaza, an areal what was totally rebuilt after fall of the wall. Many of us believe that this is the center of Berlin. The potsdam Plaza was once the most busy place in Europe. This was in the 20ies of the last century, when Berlin had its booming time. Once 2 dozen tram lines passed by and more of 2 dozen of bus-lines, too. Here was Germany`s first traffic light installed, this was 1929. Beneath there are tunnels for a subway line and the city railroad, too. The place was very heavy damaged in World War II, only one house survived completely. Then the place was divided by the Iron Curtain, it was a dead zone and looked for many decades like a meteor crater. The wall cut through the whole territory. After the wall felt, this areal was completely rebuilt; it was Europe`s biggest construction place for some years. International architects gave their best... The Potsdam Plaza is part of the "Festival of Lights" event since 3 years; there are many installments here, these are only two. Taken 21th October 2010; it was burning cold and the storm struggled with the tripod...
