Description
I was standing in front of the baboon enclosure watching the antics of the females and their young when this big mandrill came bouncing out of the brush making all sorts of noise and chasing away the others. He then proceeded to strut around ignoring us and began picking through the grass looking for insects. Suddenly he looked straight at me. I’ve seen this look before, usually from guys from New Jersey. It says, “Yo, you wanna piecea me?”

The face of the mandrill reminds of a war painting. I would not press it...run away rather. I have very large respect for these animals. An animal with charisma - a “alpha” animal!! By the way, an excellent admission. Class!! You are so courageous!

Superb capture of his expression! A definite challenge in those eyes. I love the sharp focus of his face and hair, and soft blur of the leaves. It really puts the emphasis on him. Stunning color, composition, and light. Great title and excellent shot!
