Description
Of all the animals I saw at the zoo that day it was this eagle and its companion for which I felt most sorry. These creatures were meant to soar and yet here they were confined. It is tragic to realize that the best chance many of these animals have for survival will be in parks like this. Here they will be safe and well fed, but a gilded cage is still a cage.

A truly stunning capture of a genuinely regal bird. It is a shame to see them caged, but, if it helps preserve them from being erased from the skies that should be theirs...well, perhaps having a few of them so confined might not be such a bad thing. Better a gilded cage than stuffed on some mantle piece.

A majestic bird and image! To look at the many facets of these gilded cages, many of these birds are rescued. Most of those nursed back to health are not fit to survive again in the wild.

What a beauty! I suppose Dana is right about rescues.

That is one of the reasons I prefer not to visit Zoo's, it breaks my heart to see them caged - it just doesn't seem fair to the birds ... but having said that, there are some pros & cons to it! We would miss out on an amazing close-up - like this for example thanks for sharing, BB

I couldn't agree more, what a shameful ending for such a beautiful creature that was born to be free. beautiful capture
