Description

An old dear friend fell ill today, and as I prepared an image for her, she said: "Do one for all who are ailing." That's typical of her. She's always thinking of others... For all of you who are ill or have dear ones who are ill, or have lost loved-ones, or are just struggling with your lives (and the burdens they present), my deepest & dearest wishes for peace, recovery & returned light in abundance. My friend, Sumavali, would wish me to say that, and I do. May this "season of lights" bring you all the light in the world...
This is the "Lily Pond" of Lincoln Park, Chicago. Sumavali adores November light, so I chose it. It's from November, 2010...
* * * (I'll resume my normal uploads on Wed.) A fine week to all! Mark (Much fuller zoomed)

Overwhelmingly calm and peaceful, and incredibly lovely! You've got just the right amount of detail above those stunning reflections...well done!

A very lovely Autumn photo. There is beauty even in the naked branches. All of us go through changes, just like the seasons, and there is beauty in every age. I wish your dear friend, Sumavall, a full recovery. CC

Beauty and tranquility are in abundance in this image. Very well done! The splash of orange along the shore is even reflected to make it one round bouquet. The solitary birch tree right in the middle is a great focal point to see how you've balanced the other points of interest, all of them being on the OTHER side of the water. Anything with water is very emotional. A perfect choice for your friend. Prayers.

A wonderful capture. You manage to get the most amazing light into your captures and this is no exception. The reflections look so pretty and the bright splash of orange just seems to emphasize the beauty of this scene. This is so peaceful looking and a great place to reflect on ones vulnerabilty in this life. My morning paper tells me you are having some very cold weather with a lot of snow at the moment, I do hope you can keep warm.

Sharp as a razor along with stellar contrast, detail and reflections in this superlative capture, Mark! And thank you very much for the ailing sentiments expressed in your narrative. It makes me feel grateful that someone out there cares about us who are in less than tip-top condition.

Mark, this is one of those dedications that makes you stop in your tracks and thank God there are people like you and your friend Sumavali in this world. And after reading how selfless she was it really moved me. Mark, thank you for this reminder to put aside our own concerns for a while and remember to send out wishes and prayers to those around us in need.

What a gorgeous image this is. The November light is so airy and almost insubstantial ... I can see why Sumavali prefers it. The place itself is beautiful, and I love the reflections. It's amazing to me how the reflections seem more real than the trees themselves. Perhaps there's a lesson in that. The difference between how we perceive things and how they really are. Hmmmmm. In any event ... your photograph is superb. Color, light, clarity, composition, are all just right. Take a piece of Sumavali's wishes for yourself, dear one, and take good care.

OHHH GOSH! It is breathtaking. Again your artist eye has captured the most wonderful composition in the right moment. It is so peaceful and refreshing for the mind. Wonderful colors and reflections. WOW! If that doesnt even make yourself thrilled, then I dont know what does. :-) How sweet of Sumavali to think the way she thinks. Send her my warm thoughts and wishes for her to be well, but be well yourself to, my dear friend. Il take another look at this wonderful shot, before I push the botton. :)

Winter light is the most awesome .. until spring light comes .. and then summer evening light .. and then autumn light .. aaaaah but I think winter light is the best .. maybe. Such a beautiful soothing and healing image. The colors .. the reflections, and that light. To me, November is already winter. I just saw the city buildings .. peaking through the tree tops .. what an amazing contrast

It is a beautiful thing that your friend took the moment of her own suffering as an incentive to think of others in need. I hope she is doing well. Thoughful dedication for all who suffer illness or loss. Wonderful color and mood. Once again I am transfixed by the beauties of gray, black and brown, this time with a beautiful dusty orange and a dollop of bright red-orange. I've really got to show this one and "Stopover in a Pond" to my sister, Gail, who designs quilts and is a mean hand on color combinations. If I had a quilt that reflected either of these delicious color schemes, I might keep my bed more tidy. For a while anyway. I have a wonderful quilt that my mother made for me on it now and it is currently partially covered in...stuff. Such beautiful composition and lines to this image. I love the curve of the stones bordering the water, the lines of the trees including the branch stretched across the water, and horizontal lines of the stacked stones that go a far way back into the image. Stunning reflections and detail! Another beauty that relaxes me deep down to my toes. Excellent capture!

Exquisite photography and deeply loving sentiments. It's 30 C outside today, but I can feel the crispness in the air and the tranquility seeping into my marrow...

Beautiful image and dedication. I love the serenity of this place. I hope that the serenity and friendship that you offer helps your friend through this time. I also pray that everyone that needs it can also find peace no matter what the situation. {{{hugs}}}
