Oh, man, this just makes me want to bundle up in about 15 layers of clothes!! It's stark and pure and a beauty of a winter shot. You have such an eye for these shots, for seeing your world and showing it to us. But, dang, does it look COLD!!!!!

Ah yes, a lovely profile portrait of a handful of your big downtown buildings beautifully framed by the outstretched arm of a park tree... Delightful.

That is the part of Chicago that looks exceptionally beautiful: no matter what the rest of the city looks like. You've really captured the essence of it here. I love the details and the darkness of the foregrounded trees against the sky and the snow. Chicago is a city of contrasts like that: light and dark, and even though there are lots of colors and shadings in between (as there are in this picture) there's always just the "light and dark" vying for visual dominance. This picture has a richness to it that I really like, especially in terms of the light tracing the edges of branches and architectural features. Yeah, I really like this a lot, and if this picture was taken recently, then I know just how cold it really was! This is quite wonderful.

Stark, cold yet suprisingly inviting :) It makes me want to step into the image. Great shot - I love the burgundy tones in the trees and the mist. I know this "look" of Chicago well. Really captured it beautifully.

What a marvelous view of the city skyline from here Mark, and what a great way to start the day for the rest of us as you share scenes from the city you take such great pride in. As winter has finally settled into my area it makes it easier to relate to this one even despite not being a big fan of the cold ;) The snow really does add that special something to this capture and your choice to have the trees frame this one was brilliant.

Mark, this shot and what you did to it, makes it all so inviting and so beautiful, that I wish I was there to enjoy it, but I bet you made it even more beautiful than it is with these wonderful and very special tones. I really love this shot. I love the softness and yet clarity there is over it. A wonderful milky effect. No one would doubt, it is a great artist who created this image.

Love the purple, burgundy and mauve tones that give this such a rich feel and nice contrast against the snow. The shot has a pure and pristine quality, and yet a warmth. You are getting some lovely captures, Mark. CC

I like this a lot. It's always interesting to get someone else's take on scenery that you're familiar with. Like everyone else, I love the purple dusk haze that has settled in. It looks almost like fog coming in off the lake. The skyline, as always, looks very majestic and you've captured it very nicely peeking out over the trees and tranquility of the park. Makes me feel as if I'm there, bundled up and trudging through the snow in blissful contemplation. Haven't been able to walk in the park for about 2 years now and this takes me there. Thanks for the trip, and this wonderful photo. Glad to see you're posting again!

You have captured a very unusual light in this beautiful image and it shows how cold you all must be with the snow and the chill of the mist. Not many have ventured out I see, but how lovely that you were able to get an unpeopled scene. I also love how you have used the branch of the tree as a frame. A wonderful capture.

I love winter. It has it's very own amazing light qualities, and you've captured it here with the utmost faithfulness. This vision just draws me in to it, It has such mystical qualities like that haze the winter's cold produces sometimes, yet you've managed such clarity of the buildings despite it. Sigh .. such beauty. You really do love your city, don't you?

The more i look and the more i love what i see:) from here, through the framing branches i can see and almost feel the silence and the turbulence of your city. The ground and the sky holding her, like if were joining "hands". Amazing depth and light. Again, one magic atmosphere in your image!!

Another image from you that seems to almost bypass the eyes and go straight to the soul. I love the atmosphere! The pink tint and mist that is so bone chillingly cold. The empty bench, even the warmth of warm blooded mammals is missing. Wonderful composition, with the large tree branch framing the buildings and the buildings as a backdrop for the trees. Beautiful colors of deep red, and the hazy pink that gives the buildings a purple hue. Gorgeous capture!

You have the ability to squeeze every inch of beauty out of your lens. Gorgeous tones, wonderfully artistic composition and mood... And you managed to take the shot without fogging the viewfinder with your frosted breath! I love it.
