Description

Hello everyone and thanks for looking... I've been trying to learn my way around in Hexagon2.5, and doing some modeling. This is one of my first attempts. I then saved the model as a .obj file and imported it into Vue 7 Esprit, where I changed the material settings and did the rendering. What I would like to do is learn how to apply a texture to the surface, but dealing with UV maps seems like a chore, and some of the tutorials I've seen are pretty rough. Does anyone know where I can find some good (meaning simple) tutorials on creating UV maps and texturing? Thanks, and I'm looking forward to hearing what you think. Tom Seaview123 P.S. -- I've posted the .obj model to my freebies and shareCG. I'd love to see what you can do with it.

wish I could help, no experience, I tink I'm stooped = lol... I really wish I could help ya, I want to do what you're doing... I really was going to try this last year, I like this... it's your first, so do a little more to it - so when you look back there's nothing you'd change about it... J5ive just made that wicked sky ride, sight mail him - best I can do for ya, ship looks good

Cool looking model! I wish I had something useful to tell you about uvmapping but I'm hunting for decent tutorials myself. I don't think I've talked to anyone who didn't find uv mapping a pain to do.

A nice bit of fun, as a note becareful with over smoothing your models, Hex does not like to subdivide and crashes often, try working at lower levels as a rule of production, save before smoothing, as it has a tendency to crash with the load of higher poycounts, avoid any 3 sided polys as a rule, smooth your final product and remember in both poser and Daz you have the option to smooth poly's in your render. I use UVMapper Pro, for the cost it is the best. mapping in hex is time consuming and a real pain, Sometimes I use the auto map feature in Hex it does ok.

Hexagon maybe not the easiest tool to solve your poblems. Why not take a look at more advanced progs like C4D or ZBrush?

Hey Tom, great model. I've also been trying to get the hang of Hexagon2.5. It's a simple enough program to learn but as everyone said it tends to crash. I've seen a few UV Mapping tuts for hex but it looks a bit indepth for your model. Here it is, this maybe helful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFh_VVE3I5g I'm trying to make clothing but the concept should be the same.
