Description

...I do like how it looks, so I had to figure out some kind of use for it! I'll probably try to use it as a surface texture on one of my space ships or such, to be honest. This all started out as working on some wrapping paper, to be honest, and I just couldn't quite get things where I like it, then THIS happened. Not very "Christmassy" to be honest, but I really like the over all effect of it. The great thing about making these wrapping papers is that I seldom have anything specific in mind, I start out making a kind of geometric pattern in Adobe Illustrator, then I bring it into Photoshop and start mucking around with it, often with multiple layers set to overlay, or such. I love playing with the transparency effect you can create in Photoshop. The results are often totally unpredictable but seldom disappoint. The only difference between how this is done and the methods I use to make my space backgrounds and scenery is that instead of pictures of clouds, I'm playing with something I created in Illustrator. Which is usually how I make my space ship textures, too. At any rate, this at one point had almost 20 layers, before I started getting back to basics on it. It's actually roughly 6 layers that were flattened, re-colored, and then another couple of texture layers (mostly noise filters and other "grainy" effects) added to heighten the texture. I then pulled in another Illustrator geometric pattern and messed with it a bit more to create what you see here. It seems to have the right level of grit and grime for one of my ship textures, no? Right now it's the screen wallpaper on my computer. Thanks for taking a look, and comments/critiques are most definitely welcome. If you like it, say so, if you don't, or think something needs work, I'd love to hear your feelings on it!

I would love this as a spaceship texture: feel free to use it as a Nemaean thing! Okay, only just half-kidding. But on a serious note, this is a really fascinating pattern and piece of abstract art. I think it would make fantastic wrapping paper as well as a wonderful potential background, starship skin texture, bulkhead plate, or anything else that is of a world that isn't exactly this world. In short, I like it immensely and I feel that it has such a rich range of potential. This is a really nice piece of work, and I can see the amount of work that went into it. This is really great. I like it.

The work you put into these pays off ... the DEPTH you achieve is astonishing! This is excellent work.

A close look at your work, my eyes discern (thanks to the zoom-in), a superposition of reasons, the first sub-layer erased until the beginning of money and the top layer to the different textures of the honeycomb primiotif . Curious result that borders in 2D and 3D, since it implies a substantial thickness.

I like it quite a lot, actually! When you zoom to full size, it seems to have an almost velvety look - I was almost to the point of reaching to feel the texture on my monitor! It's that good. I'd love to see one of your spaceships with this texture. Actually - with your permission - I'd like to apply this texture to a dress - I think it would look wonderful!

This would make a good wrapping for a non-Christmas present such as a birthday, etc. Also would like to see it as a spaceship texture (hint, hint!)
