Description

Pecos Pueblo, New Mexico. From what little I read, I learned that a lot of history took place in this area. Around the year 800 the first pre-pueblo people lived here, and around 1100 the Puebloans began building the rock and mud villages in the valley. It continued to grow and change for centuries. Toward the end of the 1500's, early 1600's, the Spaniards came, building the Mission. In 1680 the Indians united to revolt against the Spaniards driving them back to Mexico, killing the priest and destroying the church. 12 years later the Spaniards were welcomed back, and a smaller church was built on the old one's ruins. The western most battle of the Civil War took place nearby In March of 1862, the Battle of Glorieta Pass. And that's the very short version ;) My previous upload, "Somewhere Between". It was a madhouse every where I went today, and the rainy weather didn't help. Thank goodness I didn't have to go in to a store! The roads and freeways were full of crazy people trying to get the last of their shopping done. The only store I plan on entering in the next week is a grocery store! Happy Day! hugs, ~Melinda~

Lovely in every photographic aspect, Melinda! The Spaniards could be some really mean dudes back then. And, good luck negotiating your way thru the streets and stores during our rainy weather.
