Description

What visit to any city would be complete without running into someone trying to save your soul? This street preacher had positioned himself near the Metro tracks just outside the Saturday Market. Revelers catching the train couldn't miss him. There were a fair number of people standing around and listening to him. Don't know if anyone was saved.

I like to be a nice person but that message on his billboard makes me want to puke. People like him turn God into some kind of bloodthirsty raving lunatic. Hmm...I think I'll shut up before I get warmed up.

This looks like the guy I saw in Portland, OR. :-) Not one person walked up to him - in fact they passed him as if he wasn't there. Great shot.

They often say if you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything. The photo displays the fact that no one is falling for this fellow, still he is dangerous!

Looks like you and PJ ran into the same guy! An excellent capture of someone I would avoid like the plague.

when you break it down, that's actually the exact same system used by scammers the world over - scare your 'mark' into believing what you say so they are putty in your hands.... anyway I will bite my tongue about what I think about the guy and his board, but your shot is a nicely observed slice of street life :)

What is the fee he charges for saving us? Since I never wanted to go to heaven I guess I'm saved from it all. Great shot as already noted above he has no takers. It's a brilliant shot, well done.

I am a loving god. There are all kinds of actions that can cause me to send you to the hot fires of hell. Some quite serious and others...well a bit petty. But never mind, grovel and claim belief in some pretty outlandish behavior on my part and all is forgiven. Experience even the slightest doubt and no amount of virtue or good deeds will save you from the fiery hell that I have prepared for you for all eternity. When I look down and see you in eternal agony, I will weep. Because I am a loving god. Great capture of a depressing feature of American life.
