Description

The Northwest in fall and winter. ...one day gray skies, low clouds, sometimes light rain (some call it dry rain - no umbrella needed). ...next day this! ...here we are looking from Picnic Point (2 miles from our home) west across Puget Sound, over the Kitsap Peninsula at the Olympic Mountains. If we drive around those mountains we come to the Pacific Ocean. Bill:) "Bridge to Nowhere" thumb_2147789.jpg

Friday was so gorgeous ... one of those winter days when the mountains loom larger than normal. Beautiful image! The Olympics are stunning, and I love your composition. :*

What an image! I love those wood pilings sticking up like mysterious monuments or something, and the mountains in the background are just deliciously scenic. There's a great sense of scale here too...I can see that those mountains are far away and yet they do look rather massive, impressive, and sizable. This is a really great shot. Chicago is so flat! I rather like the prairie-land flatness, but there are times when I would just love to see more bumpy land. This is a great photo. I like it quite a lot!

Gorgeous composition! The mountains are far enough away not be depressing, they can have the same effect on me as tall buildings.. (what a wimp!)

Keen pic, Bill. Had to read write-ups on Wiki to find out how high (just under 8000 feet), and that there are several glaciers, along with 200 inches of annual rainfall.

I love when those stark white peaks are visible all around us here, as if they were the teeth of some giant animal about to swallow us! And what a stunning capture!

It is a fantastic shot this one. Look at all the beautiful layers in the background of these two rough piers and the crispy little waves in the front. I like this shot very much.

Stunning! I remember my time in Alaska was a lot like you describe - day after day of dull grayness and then a day like you show here where the sun is bright and the view is breathtaking. Nice shot and wonderful composition, bill.

Fantastic clarity and color considering the depth of this fantastic fotograph, Bill. Really like the stark lighting contrast, patterns and texture.

Wow - two miles from your home..... I'm sooo jealous, Bill! If I go two miles from my home, I'll get to see......um......buildings, or maybe a shopping mall. Oh, and a McDonald's. LOL! ;-P Seriously - this is something one would expect to see on a travel brochure for Washington. Beautiful, and beautifully composed. What a shot, and what an eye!
