Description

Ahem... Okay, not everyone has it so good in this world. Living in situations that they have no control over and getting by as best they can they lurk on the edges, trying most of the time to fade into the background. If you're not seen you can't be hurt and sometimes the cards we're dealt are not a winning hand, but a backhand. We all fall prey to random acts... violent or otherwise. This image just seemed to fall together, as they sometimes do. I certainly didn't set out in this direction, but she seemed to take me here the more I worked with her. I found myself becoming very empathetic towards her imaginary plight, strange as it may seem. Maybe not the ideal image for the holidays but hopefully an evocative one. Try to practice a random act of kindness for someone this week... maybe some change to the bum on the corner or a small package of food donated to a family you might know of that's not doing so well. Help an elderly neighbor forgotten by their family or volunteer for a few hours at a mission perhaps. You will be amazed at how well it'll help you sleep. CREDITS: Arcebus ~ 'Alyson' character, mats, blouse, and backdrop, 'LIE' wound and dirt overlays from Daz, 'Ranger' hair, my lights. As they say; "There but for the grace of God go I", so I leave it to you. Merry Christmas to all... Don

This touched a chord with me. I have two friends, sisters, who went through an extreme version of this. The brutality was so severe, one of them died years later due to complications. Yes, the world can be quite ugly. Each of us must do our best to be a light in the darkness for people who no longer have hope...

empathy for others is a must in this world. it is to easy to get so busy that we are not there for those around us when they need us. thank you for the pic and the reminder.

What a powerful image! Yes, during this season or ANY season, there are those who are in a living hell... And as far as random acts of kindness, it is AMAZING if you take even just a moment to talk to an elderly person, perhaps take them some soup or a casserole, you'd think you gave them the world, especially those who have no family or whose family seems to be too busy with them. Listen to them, ask them what things were like when they were young and you will realize they are full of history and stories!

Very moving and touches a nerve, bringing memories I'd rather forget. Very powerful and needs to be expressed that all is not bright for some this time of the year or anytime for that matter. Excellent image and wonderful suggestions.

Powerful, and quite sad. Being the brother of, and coming from a police officers family, I have seen and heard way too much of this kind of thing.

Great reminder that amid this happy time of the year for many it is a not so happy time for some. We need to do those random acts of kindness you speak of every chance we get, all year long. You never know, the life you change, might just be your own (I can not help but believe we would all be better people it we were just a little more caring and giving toward others).
