Description

I grew up in Berlin and spent a lot of time in a big garden nursery, with far-removed relatives who adopted me like one of their own... There was nothing better in my mind, than spending time with my cousin racing through all those Hothouses, especially around the Christmas time holidays. All the staff were very busy making the traditional 'Advents-kranz' - one after another - ready to be sold for the first week in December. Here now is my version of the traditional decoration from some of my childhood memories. I like to take this opportunity and ~WISH YOU ALL WONDERFUL CHILDHOOD MEMORIES THIS CHRISTMAS~ ... BTW 'Advents-kranz means simply ' Advent-wreath' Big Cheers *BB*

Thank you so much for sharing the seasonal joys of your childhood bouncing about the hothouses BB. Undoubtedly those memories are still dear to you, and rightfully so. About the blue. The colour is right as "I'll have a blue Christmas without you I'll be blue thinking about you" ... and that, dear Brigitte, is what this photo also brings to mind. But on a brighter note this also serves to remind me of my early days when Christmases were something the whole family really looked forward to. Those were good times. :-) Have a most Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Childhood memories are the best and yours sound wonderful as to me there is nothing finer than the light and natural fragrance found inside of a hothouse. Wonderful story and image!! Hopes for a happy and artsy new year:)

I was first attracted to this post by the title, then I enjoyed looking at your decoration and reading your memories. Your description of carefree childhood moments put the image in my mind. Of adults too busy to worry much about two children running around, smelling the beautiful scents, and enjoying the feeling of freedom coupled with the excitement of the holiday atmosphere. What joyful memories! Thank you for sharing them. My most enduring Christmas memory is lying on the carpet with one or more of my sisters, near the tree, talking and listening to Christmas music, and watching the colored shadows change on the wall and ceiling. About one in ten of our Christmas tree lights were blinkers and as they blinked slowly on and off the patterns were constantly changing as the shadow of one branch or another would be outlined on the wall. I haven't seen a wreath like this. It is beautiful. I love the stars hanging down. Lovely image and wonderful memories!
