Description

Please ZOOM to see this in large view. The small version isn't nearly as nice!!! If you wish the first part, see my picture before this one Mars vs. Venus. ***** The ruthless Emperor and his troops descended upon the planet of Venus2 with all their furor, their mechanized bots and gunships making quick work of the defenses. Venus2 was a place dedicated to beauty and culture and though they were not completely defenseless and those who chose military life were well trained, their defenses were paltry compared to the massive show of force brought by Mars3 and the Luddite race. Most devastating of all, their dragon troopers who swooped through the skin, impervious to all but the most lethal of weapons searching for the guard and indeed for the royal personage, Queen Millicent. Xurg had shown his legendary temper when he discovered that the queen had escaped his clutches and had the entire troop assigned to secure the palace banished to mining duty in the Calari Astroid belt. It was not so strange that once the major defenses of the planet were overcome, the Dragons were released onto the planet with specially trained troops who could link with the beasts mentally. They searched for the queen and also for pockets of resistance, of which there were many. The dragon troopers were given orders to bring in the members of the resistance alive. The grinning Luddite soldiers considered this a bonus, for the males of Venus were well generally well groomed and very handsome and the women were renown for their beauty and grace. Since the Luddites were short both prettily handsome males and many more male Luddites were born than female, this planet was worth far more than the resources of precious metals and jewels. Venus2 was now at the mercy of the invaders. Only a miracle could turn this tide of woe. *** So, the female is one of the troopers that is being rounded up.. the guy on the dragon is one of the Luddite warriors. I used Michael 3 him. Millenium2 dragon, though I really need to figure out how to put the add ons on the dragon. I waned the fins on the face and tail.. but couldn't get them to resize. Beautiful Jess for V4 is the skin and character. Summer Hair on her with postwork. Some playing in the materials room with the DirtyPretty textures to give the outfit some purples and grays that is on the girl. Now.. the magnificent background and the gun and the pose that the girl has is by Pixieluna and ChuckNepo and will be in their upcoming Venus 2813 set. Just amazing stuff folks! And very, very inspiring to me! I built up similar textures of my own around the main background, though their textures are much better than mine. I wanted to continue the montage effect that my previous piece had and experiment with breaking out of the boundaries of the main section. Um.. also, I think I learned a bit about doing laser effects :) Thank you again Jenny and Chuck.. I'm having a blast with this set.. an absolute blast! To everyone.. I love your comments, critiques, suggestions and humor! Please let me know what you think. :) Thank you so much for your comments and suggestions and favs on the one before this. Previous

This is fantastic. It's really worth zooming in to see all the small details. This reminds me of a softer version of some of Boris Valejo's work. ^^

I agree with Angel (savage_dragon), this will really make you jump as it has the "WOW factor." If she spilled her coffee, I almost fell of my chair when I saw it. I also need to pick up my jaw from the floor. I like how you added your own touch with this work, that is something I always wanted to see, you made it your own. Bravo-Zulu to a job well done!

Oh my, until I read how you did this I assumed the frame was an "expansion" of Jenny's image and not something that you had created. Looking at the ground rocks I see how they are different. I really like how you created this, it is really striking and it gave me some pause to figure out how it could be done. I always love creative framing and this is super - it really makes the image. This is the best work I have seen of the Venus 2813 sets.

beautiful usage of framing that gives the image action movement and depth...a wonderful colour scheme as well the scale of her weapon is a little lost with the background shapes competing for your attention...either move or remove those elements and the shape and size of her gun would be clearer....it kind of blends in with the scenery. hey I am really nit picking here D as this is a damn fine image...one of your best of late merry xmas and well done mate Carl

Thank you all for taking time to comment on this one. I learned so much when I was doing it. Really so much! I reworked this piece after Carl's observation about the shapes of the spires breaking up the line of the gun. I have to say, much, much happier with it since doing that. Lots of clone brush, painting and a light mist over the top of the new deadwood shape behind the figure and it doesn't mess up the line of the gun now. May need a tiny dragon up in that corner now. Not sure. Thank you Carl, for nitpicking and making me work a bit harder .. it's all worth it! Merry Christmas! Delaney

Oh dear... this render totally blows me away! What a marvelous scene! Love those colors, they add that right "nor from this world" feeling... Fantastic posing on the figures, and I especially like the brilliant way of framing the scene, while the heroine jumps out of the render... I'm speechless, it's such a fabulous work! :) Vashek
