Description
Captured 12/23/10, looking sunward toward the south, at approximately 11:30 AM, a mere block from my congenial condo complex.
Even more impressive, with deeper contrast, when ZOOMED.
After our big five-day rainstorm, I figured it would be an opportune time to go out and record any wet leaves and big reflective puddles for the sake of posterity, so it was by sheer luck that I happened to look up during my search and see this big black beauty, riding the tail end of the departing storm, and hovering overhead like some jovial Jupiter, seemingly challenging me to photograph him before he was gone forever. Fortunately, it was moving slowly, with me following along in stride mushing through wet leaves, giving me the opportunity to snap fifteen shots of the lumbering giant as it headed off to the east. The sun was hanging just below the top of the cloud, giving it this silver lining effect.
I would have done a collage, but it would have been too repetitive. I'll just pop in the other fotos along the line if and when I see fit.
BTW, I can't seem to get the tune of "The Little Drummer Boy" out of my head.
Ciao, thankx for the look-see, and for any and all complimentary comments and faves.

Gorgeous!!! I sure wish OUR sky looked like that today...but it was gray and gloomy...and now the snow is starting to fall. They have updated the amount we are supposed to get here in southern New Hampshire...we are now in the 20-25 inch area. THAT should make the morning drive to work a fun time, LOL. Enjoy the sun!!!!

Beautiful cloud capture, Harry. I usually see a silvery cloud like this while I am driving to work, unable to photograph it.

Yes, I remember that day, as I happened to be in the El Segundo/Manhattan Beach area at this exact time, .. a brief respite from the continual deluge. Then a short time later the skies opened up again, just in time for the drive home. Beautiful shot :)

It was a cloud like this that inspired me to go to school for my pilot's license 46 years ago. The cloud seemed to say, come up here and play with me.

My favorite version of "Little Drummer Boy" is a toss up between Trans Siberian Orchestra or Lonestar doing it...love both versions...no idea why just a Christmas song that got stuck in my head...Awesome capture here Harry! I think it is most beautiful!
