Description
One of the nineteen mills in Kinderdijk(NL) is of a different type. It is called a wipwatermolen in Dutch and so far I haven't found a precise translation. A 'watermolen' is ofcourse a 'watermill'. The 'wip' refers to its shape : a pyramidal base and a square top house.
The picture shows the back of the mill with the gear of the miller to put the mill square in the wind.
Yesterday there wasn't any wind in Kinderdijk at all so I could walk around this mill at ease.

I couldn't help myself but to look back at this image of yours, Onno, and admire it some more! The clarity and precision is remarkable! Such a vast, powerful structure that seems as though it was built with thought and purpose...Seems so old, and yet sturdy and reliable. What a beautiful sky, providing for a sharp contrast that does wonders for the windmill........ the tiny little building in comparison (down below) marks the vastness of this "beast" of "wipwatermolen"...... Wonderful subject! I do enjoy looking at the series!
