Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

A man with three buttocks? Well...you start a Monty Python riff and that's how I finish it. As for this shot: I love it and I remember the night it was taken. Chicago has a way of seeming like a city when you look at it from Wacker Drive...a bona-fide city, with prospects. That's always a good thing. I love the darkness in this shot and that grid-pattern to the grating. The whisper of a cab's fender in this is really nice, as is the low angle of this shot. This is absolutely fantastic. I like it immensely.

LOVE the low-angle shot highlighting the grating of the crosswalk. I know Chip already mentioned it, but really ... it's worth mentioning again. The cars waiting for the light make me think of a drag race, and the people on the corner couldn't have been more perfectly positioned. This has so many excellent elements in it, I keep going back to look again and again!

Exciting shot Corey! Love it! Everyone has already said it but I love the lighting, the grid on the street, the car bumper- all the action and excitement of living in Chicago. And glad to hear that you are sick of the holiday season too - REALLY ready to move into the new year :)

I'll repeat what's been said, the lighting and grill are fantastic. Wonderful black and gold tones and vertical lines. I like the strong gold line that runs up to the top edge of the image. Excellent POV, lighting, and composition. Superb shot! Now I'm off to Google 'Eric Idle anti-xmas'

This rather reminds me of my time living in London. Nights were the only time I actually liked being there. The feel of a city is so very different when one walks it hand in hand with darkness. For me, it's all about colour, especially a golden hue. So much more friendly that the florescent glare more usually seen. Fabulously warm image. ^=^
