Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

There's a lot to be said for dignity (and efficiency) and cats are the pinnacle of dignity (and efficiency.) I really like this shot, because it's so cat-like. Highly sensible if you ask me. Why use faucets and glasses when you've got fresh, cool water right there? Makes perfect sense to me! I love this shot, and I love the sensible feline showing that even a toilet can be put to dignified use. Great shot, and happy new year to you!

Little Bit...hmm. He looks a little more than a bit. Gorgeous cat though, even in this somewhat unrefined position. From the looks of the ripples, I'd say he was thirsty. A familiar scene. I've even gotten slight looks of exasperation when I use their water dish for another purpose. They think that I'm the one who is uncouth. And when I look at it from their perspective, they have a point. Excellent shot.

ROTFL!! This is great! You caught your kitty at the perfect moment. I'll have to admit - being the ornery sort of cuss that I am - I'd be more than a little tempted to reach over with a yardstick or something and quietly push the flush lever. You know, just to get that look from the cat, like "What is WRONG with you??" Delightful photo! Happy New Year!

Great shot Corey! Now that Little Bit is in the great beyond, this is a fitting tribute to such a great cat. She was quiet and demure when she had to be but she knew how to WORK it kid including stealing some much loved water from the toilet! What a fitting image for your 200th! Chip told me that this is a benchmark when you reach this many images- Congratulations! Happy New Year to you too!

What a great image for your 200th! LOL! A nicely quirky choice for a milestone image. Love it! I had a friend whose cats drank from the toilet bowl. Apparently they couldn't reach the water if the seat was down, so instead of yelling at the men in her house to put the seat down, she was forever reminding them to leave it up! Such a beautiful, if undignified kitty.

Mine sleeps in the bathroom sink, drinks from the kitchen faucet and sleeps with her butt in my face all night. :-) Ya gotta love 'em. Fun shot.
