Description
Lyle and Lance were just about to get in their pickup when an old, fairly well preserved 57 Plymouth Fury drove up to them. A gritty lookin old gray hair gent climbed out from behind the wheel and walked right over to them.
"I'm the owner of this here yard! You guys buyin or just looking?" he asked.
Lyle became the spokesman for the brothers. "We heard you had a wrecked Corvette just sitting around and thought we'd take a look. I've got a set of wheels but my brother is looking for something to fix up. We need something to keep us busy this summer in our spare time."
"Well, I suppose, judging from the disappointed looks on your faces, you have given up on this particular candidate. My youngest son took his last ride in that car! After we buried him, I had em drop it off right where she sits and she's been sittin there ever since. A couple of my older boys thought about trying to fix it up. Even went so far as gettin some parts and such. But they both have families of their own, and they soon tired of all the work she needs and the expense. They just left their stuff over in that shack to gather dust. I tell you what! If you guys are serious about a summer project, I can make you one heck of a deal on those parts, but I'm tired of lookin at this pile of junk. You'd have to take it along with the rest of the stuff."
Lance was giving Lyle some hand signals like he wanted to get the heck out of there pronto, but Lyle was deep in thought. "Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a look at what you've got."
They both followed the old guy over to the shack and poked their heads inside. Much to their surprize, there was quite a large accumulation. Looked like a fairly new engine and transmission, some seats and several body parts and other assorted pieces.
"Hmmm," Lyle said out loud. "I need to discuss this with my brother."
"Go ahead," said the old man. "Take all the time you need! This stuff ain't goin no place anytime soon!"
Lyle and Lance walked back to the pickup. Lyle could see he was going to have a hard sell talking his brother into this one. But after going over all the pros and cons, the pros won out. The only thing that could kill it now was if the old guy wanted too much for the parts.

The old guy did a good job keeping that '57 Plymouth in shape. My father had a '58 Plymouth and it rusted in places I never thought possible, lol. The thing could move though. Looking forward to the next scene.

The 1958 Plymouth was very rattley. It also was the last Chrysler product to be rejected by the Michigan State Police who went on to purchase the B-block 361/383 V-8s with the typewriter on the dash shifted Torqueflite automatic. I took driver training in 1959 and got my driver's license. Has that dry almost matte look of Bryce without raytracing and with the grey hair. Your effort is appreciated.
