Description

This bird has become very common since the 1950's when they started to appear in one's and two's, They soon became established and can now be seen anywhere in the UK, the name comes from their neck markings. This shot was taken through my conservatory window, hence the clarity is not what it might be.

Actually, the clarity is great! I rescued a collared dove a few years ago. It was being beaten up by others of his species. Their gentle look belies a nature which is fairly fiesty! I (or at least, Spider), one of my rats, got mites for the trouble! I've also had these taken off my bird table, despite a protective roof, by Sparrow Hawks! Nature knows best I suppose. A fabulous shot of one of the first birds to break the silence each morning. ^=^ Happy New Year Jeff!

We had many of these, but they have been displaced by Woodpigeons in my garden. The shot is fine!
