Description

My last render from 2010 and the first that I've been able to do for a few months. My previous computer fried in mid-October (and took out a hard drive - there's a lot that was on that drive that's lost to me now) and I've had to use a salvaged Dell (maybe eight years old now) to get online in the meantime. But I couldn't do a lot more than that or listen to music, at least with what I have at my disposal. Maybe I just don't have the patience anymore, having gotten used to what a more recent system can do. Not like I had the hard drive space for much anyway if I wanted to try to get more done. A couple weeks ago I broke down and ordered parts to build a mostly new system a bit better than what I had (instead of waiting and putting together something better), having to use a couple parts from the dead system. But it's still not complete, the next parts being a second hard drive, better video card to replace the onboard video (and an ailing dedicated card that only works half the time) and a network card that is supported by 64-bit Windows 7. Just a few more days. Until then, the Dell gets me online. But I have been able to play around a bit with the new computer, including a few runs in Poser. I still have to get used to using it again and learning the quirks of Windows 7, but it shouldn't take long. This is a render I've long had in the works, but couldn't quite get it to look the way I wanted it to. I don't know why, but I decided to make this one the first render I worked on with the new computer. Of course, what was getting in the way of the results I wanted was something simple. Figures. Hopefully it doesn't take me another three months to get some more renders done. There are a few that may actually be doable now, although I'll probably need to upgrade sometime soon anyway. A new system with more memory can only do so much.

Nice to see a ressurrection of sorts. Thing about Poser and PCs is that the more you upgrade the system, the more you push it to breaking point and wind up just needing a better set up!
