Description

According to their website this is an ex Vietnam US Marine Corps Huey Helicopter, used for helicopter tours of the peninsula. It was one of three Hueys which took part in the water bombing in order to contain the fire. Here the Bambi bucket is being pulled out after submerging and re-filling. Table Mountain in the background. We had our first rain of the year this morning, complete with lightening and thunder at 4am. Very unseasonal and unusual for Cape Town. At least the risk of further fires has abated for a few days! Hope your first day was a good one! Clive

During our fire season when the hills and valleys around us burn out of control, we so a lot of this and the planes with the fire retardant trailing behind it. This is a wonderful shot. There are a lot of brave souls who put their life on the line to fight the blazes.
