A work in progress! Hi! My name is Melinda. I am happily married to the love of my life and we have a daughter who is in college. I live in Southern California and I am an amateur photographer. My husband bought me my Kodak P880 for Christmas in 2006. I looked at it and thought I'd never figure it out! I've only taken regular every day snapshots and never looked through the lens in a "creative" way. Then in March 2007 someone introduced me to Renderosity.  In May, I became brave and decided to upload my first photo... I haven't been able to put my camera down since! LOL. I still have a lot to learn, but I sure am having fun doing it. I have come a long way though. This time last year, I couldn't even put a photo on the computer! Now I have started to research DSLR cameras ... Who knows what the future brings! Update: I now have that DSLR :) Was the best Christmas (2008) gift!   I did the research and picked it out and Santa put it under the tree. It's a Canon Rebel Xsi .

I have a new DSLR, the Canon 7OD. A gift from my husband for Mother's Day. So much to explore!

What a beautiful spot!! I LOVE places like these with the pools of water and the layers of rock! Love the clouds reflected in the water too!

Looks like a cool place. Has an escher quality to it. I'd be tempted to remove the top, crop it to just below the first person's feet.

Stark lighting contrasts, beautiful clarity, reflections and ecru and aquamarine colors in this sterling image, Melinda! Could be in many different places on this planet.

I'm slowly catching up, and I have to say that both image and title grabbed me here. There is a kind of incantation-like quality to your title, a little bit like something Ray Bradbury would have written, and well, how cool is that!? And then there's the picture itself. It's full of brilliant life and delicious contrasts. The sky and clouds are such nice, cool colors and then there are the earth tones that warm it up and keep the whole thing exciting. The shapes are amazing. The reflections and the water remind me of some sort of a gem...sapphire with something opalescent in its nature...one of those rare oyster sapphires (I just made that up) or something. This is really great, and the little wall of green in the back is really a great way to like the earth/sky tones. Yeah, I like this! HA...and the rock face to the left reminds me caramel.
