Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

This is one of those shots that looks quite cinematic...more from the mood of it and the angles. Nothing is head-on, straightforward, everything is at an angle, either from your low-angle POV or from just being taller (like that building in the back) or just kinda CTA-weird like the other stairs you can see hints of heading up. I like that, it reminds me of the kind of stuff I used to watch, back when I actually watched stuff on tv, especially if it involved really gritty urban-ness and cool characters and actual plots you had to pay attention to. Really nice work, and I like the way the human figure is so much a part of the environment...the person looks as gray and downtown-colored as the rest of this bit of downtown. Very nice, and incredibly well seen.

Nice POV! This is exactly what the Boston’s "T" station stairs look like except ours are completely covered in rust. "T" is short for MBTA – Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. Dana

Up and down and all over the place--great shot, full of that gritty, urban feel you do so well. Geez, I just read Chip's comment, guess I stole his words!!

That low, low angle really makes this shot. I feel like the whole thing is about to fall over on me, at the same time it's receding. What a cool picture!

Cool shot Corey! I love the POV and Chip nailed it with how the figure fits right in the mood of this shot. Very nice!

I am out of breath just looking at all those stairs! Really great angle here Corey! I love the wear/rust on the metal... A real city image.

Wonderful POV and depth. I like the mirroring of the shape of the stairs in the shape of the ceiling. It looks like a henge that could be closed up for the night, hopefully after all pedestrians are gone. Wonderful lines and textures. Excellent capture!

Absolutely fantastic POV - despite the fact it actually makes my tum lurch - which I suppose goes to prove what a fabulous shot this is! ^=^
