Caught this little guy in the conifer tree next to my building on the 6th floor.
Wiki:
A pair of endangered peregrine falcons, named George and Gracie by their legions of fans, have returned to downtown San Francisco to lay four new eggs inside a planter on the 30th floor of 201 Mission Street. For the past three years, George and Gracie have laid eggs in a nest box atop the PG&E building at 77 Beale Street where the utility installed a webcam that enabled scientists from the UC Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group (SCPBRG) and viewers from around the world to learn more about peregrines and their offspring.
The peregrine population declined to zero known nesting pairs east of the Mississippi, and just two known nesting pairs in California by 1970. Today, there are an estimated 235 peregrine falcon nesting pairs in California.

Oh wow - this is the same species that are also found in New York City! Awesome catch of this beauty! I never knew they were endangered! :(

Marvellous pic, and good to know they are valued!

Nice to see effort to save a species working. Great shot

Good information and a nice shot but this bird is a Buteo Hawk not a Falcon, possibly a Sharp-shinned Hawk. Peregrines have a black hood, a black back, black beak and a white chest and a sleek body.

I've read about this pair and it's great to know they're still around.

Peregrines are beautiful birds. Great story, but I agree, this is a Hawk. Nice shot, though.

Beautiful shot...what a treat to see....and what a conifer! Don't recognize those 'needles'. I'm accustomed to doug' firs, and the impression the photo gives is that the falcon is about the size of a chickadee...trippy.

I don't know if it is a hawk or a falcon, but it definitely looks like a powerful raptor either way.A fine shot.
