My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

I love the low light and the depth of this image. It looks so removed from anything else. The mountains do loom in this composition! Clive
awjay
excellent shot
jayfar
A really super shot.

With such spectacular scenery I'm surprised the captain doesn't run more ships aground. I guess you can get used to anything. This is a great layered image. The sea, the forest, the low hils and then the Alps. Excellent capture.

What a splendid view! Fantastic capture! :)

Leave it to me...I've just finished examining this modern tug at the zoom level...what used to be a wheel house now looks like an aircraft control tower. This makes perfect sense for the all around viewing needed by the Captain and crew doing this work. Just imagine getting to ride through the Sound with this commanding view...hope he/she is a photograper. Beautiful capture and a neat observation concerning the way the mountains 'move' around here:)

Absolutely stunning capture of these mountains; I keep trying to get one even remotely as good as this, to no avail. Well done you!

Lovely contrast in the colours.

WOW! All I can say is "WOW!" This is spectacular! Even on Lake Michigan you don't get far off scenery that looks like this, in fact, you can't even SEE the other shore! I love how wide open and airy this is. Makes me want to ride on that tug, have the sea spray in my face, say things like "Aye, Matties', and things like that. You get the general idea. Love this fantastic shot!

A wonderful capture and the mountain looks amazing with its coating of snow. I know what you mean about sometimes they look close and sometimes they don't as that is like here. We always say it is going to rain when they look close.

Fantastic shot Tara! I love the DOF, color and light in your shot. Very nice

I can't remember that far back. Stellar DOF colors and effects in this magnificent capture.

It looks like they're tiptoeing forward, very, very quietly...as mountains do, you know. I really love the scale here. Those are some big whoppers back there, and being from a largely flat area, it must be quite a thing to see wrinkly snow, way the heck up in the air like that...well...okay, snow on wrinkly ground, way the heck up in the air like that! I love the sense of scale in this and even though those mountains are far away, you get a real feeling of how big they are and how everything around them fits so perfectly into perspective. This is a fantastic shot.

That's truly a breathtaking view! Wonderful capture, Tara! That tugboat really gives this a sense of depth, and an inkling of just how big those mountains are! Wow!
moochagoo
Very impressive background with that boat !
