You might spot me at Kirra Beach, the South-Eastern end of the Gold Coast, Australia, if you like beach walking like myself... but there is more ! My son Jeff (*jif3d*, here at Rendo, it helps to advertise, ooops)... he took this pic of me in 2000, then manipulated it in photo-shop and it's still one of my favourites. Just very briefly about my past... *born in East Prussia; *grew up in Berlin, West Germany; *migrated to "OZ" in 1960, (not the Wizard of Oz) but...AUSTRALIA ! I guess I was more into '2D' since early childhood, and thinking that my son Jeff may have inherited some of my artistic skills, because he translated them into '3D'. I am hooked on photography, since I discovered cameras... that's it in a nutshell. BTW - one of my fav.quotes.... ** I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure - which is trying to please everybody !** that's a wrap... Cheers Brigitte.

My father-in-law, who is the Grand master of all things green, says there are no such things as weeds. well seen wonderful colours!

They look like red shells where a pearl is in it. A beautiful red and lovely flower. So nice you found them, Brigitte. Does they smell? I was a bit reminded, of the flower of a rose cane. Thanks for sharing ♥

Proves that there can be beauty anywhere, if we look.

I always like my flowers black - and watering is optional :)

Some people define weeds as foliage that interferes with their management goals for a segment of land. And they may well view a well manicured golf course as perfection. Other's more in tune with nature consider a golf course to be horribly scarred land. However, if left alone it'll eventually be overrun with "weeds." Weeds serve a purpose as the first stage in loosening the soil preparing the way for later stages of growth. Here's a human example: a scab is often ugly, but it provides the first stage in regrowing healthy skin. As for me, I consider "weeds" to have purpose (if native)and possessing a utilitarian beauty in most cases. Thank you for presenting this photo dear Brigitte ... and for churning the wheels of thought.

Wow what a wonderful looking 'weed'. The flower reminds me of an iris and the colour is fantastic with its beautiful red throat. I have no idea what it is called though but I think I'd keep it as a flower. A lovely photo of it.

Weeds do serve another purpose - a means to get out in the air, down on your knees and play in the dirt... and lose yourself in the oneness of the world

Dig that Velvet like black fade to dark red, it would make a great dress texture ! I agree with Durley, something related to the Pea Family I reckon, especially with that bean shaped pod in the background ! Another vote for a kool flower thingy and not a weed at all or anything to do with that T.V. show ! ~Cheers~ :o)

I wouldn't have known that was a weed! And I thought a gardeners best friend was a dude with a shovel!

oh you have beautiful weed;) but i understand that you like other plants too..

Thats pretty cool, and it is interesting to think that we consider weeds a problem, yet they can be far more effecient and water conservative than something like Kentucky Blue Grass which people insist on having in their front lawns, wasting water.

That's a weed? I'm with you, some weeds are just too beautiful to be pests. Dandelions are a fine example. I think they look beautiful, the more the better. I've never seen this weed but those petals are really lovely in color and shape and the contrast with the fantastic light green is striking. Thanks for showing it to us. I heard on the news you are having great floods I hope you are not effected. Stay safe.

A weed is any plant you don't want. At first I couldn't figure out what weed you were referring to. This is a lovely flower with a deep rich color. So did you keep it or pull it out?
