Description
Well the builders have gone and the new plant is up and running.Weather permitting the landscapers will be in tomorrow and we can get the grounds tidied up.
As you'll see production has started, first out of the aircraft hall, the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter. It's off to the paint shop now and then marking up for the customers.
We appear to have a 'spare' production hall and have earmarked it for civil aircraft production.
I hope to be able to give you a guided tour next week. Some areas must remain off limits and the new security we've hired from Anthony Appleyard will see to that.
Well thanks for looking and any comments.

What fun! But, seriously, Neil, you DO know that you don't have to model the factory that produces each model, don't you? Heh!

This makes me think back to about 1968 (or so) when my cousin who was the assistant comptroller on the Grumman F-14 program took me through the plant (Bethpage, New York) after everybody had gone home for the day. We had to go through a very mild security check at the gate (Bill had his Grumman ID, I had my Army ID). We then walked into a gigantic hangar-like building. All the lights were on...and there on the floor sat the first mockup...made of wood no less. Then a heavy metal mockup. This mockup was used to figure out how all the wiring, hydralics, etc. would fit together...all control surfaces, etc. worked...the cockpit was fully in place along with ejection seats, etc. Then the jigs were on the floor with the first prototype for flight test being assembled. And all of this before computers (although I am sure they had some big mainframe somewhere). I was very impressed. So, your production facilities bring back a flood of memories. The facility above also produced the Lunar Landing Modules (LEMs) used for landing men on the moon between 1969 and 1972.

Good image. Is that oxyacetylene torch/cylinders set my model?
