Description

James Bus Depot is in Belize City. Literally all local and express busses that operate within Belize are old 'Blue Bell' school busses. They are generally in good running order with a few missing an occasional rear or braking light. The local busses stop anywhere along the road or highway whenever someone wants to get on or off. Greyhound type busses, those that are international, operate from a separate terminal adjacent to this lot. This picture was taken on the first day in country and I was stricken by the poverty of the city. It became easier to take the longer I was there. There is a middle class, but the houses are usually located in compounds, which are often gated. This picture was taken on 25 November 2010. Thanks for viewing and commenting, Sig...

What a wonderful capture of every day life there. It always seems to me that in a place where the sun shines most of the time, there's more color. Vehicles, houses, clothing ... everything is brighter and more intense. This is a great example of that! Sunshine and fun colors. Nicely seen!

I think the saddest part of this is the line you wrote that, there is a middle class, but the houses are usually located in compounds, which are often gated, that doesn't sound like living to me being gated in .. maybe the poorer folks there are really the better off ones. Nice capture.
