Description

This male Yellow Iguana was photographed along the bank of the Belize River near Bermudian Landing, Belize District. Near this male were two females, and in the adjacent tree was another male and two females. Females are not as colorful. Yellow Iguanas are tree dwellers and can reach a length of 1.5m (~5-ft). Yellow Iguanas are edible and are supposed to taste like chicken, hence the meat is called tree chicken. No one I asked had eaten them. This picture was taken on 3 December 2010. That is one nasty looking "tree" chicken. At least you don't have the problem of removing all those feathers. Fantastic find, capture and share. We have these all over south Florida and they can get very aggressive. Check out the one I posted: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1792079&user_id=331997&page=45&member&np Dana
